Split tens must be same value - In most casinos, Tens, Jacks, Queens and Kings all count as ten and can be considered the same for splitting rules. In other words, you can split a Jack and a King. A few casinos demand that the cards be exact pairs. No Ace Splits - Some casinos do not allow a split of Aces. Never split tens. This is a common rookie mistake in Blackjack. Splitting 10s essentially sacrifices a great hand for a very slim chance at an even better one.

When it comes to splitting 10s in the game of blackjack, the bottom line should be: Average players should never split and should always stand on 20. Card counters will sometimes split in ten-rich decks. Smart tournament players will sometimes split when they need to bet more chips, especially if it’s the last hand. Doubling down is an exciting move to make in blackjack – and profitable if you get it right. This is when you double your bet in the middle of a hand, after which you only receive one more card.

Hi.
At one of the casinos I like to play most have a very speciel rule about splitting tens. When you split tens at their casino, and you recieve an ace it counts as a blackjack and you get normal 3/2 blackjack payout.
How does it effact my interrest in splitting tens when I use the high-low index (thorp, Bet the dealer) Right now I split tens against a dealers 6 when the index is higher than 7, but is it lower now when I get paid better of with the speciel blackjack rule ?

Having said that, even if the true count indicates that the play is warranted it may still be a bad idea to split tens. Because the act of splitting tens draws so much attention, most card counters choose to ignore the index for splitting tens, and just keep the pat 20 regardless of the count.

For the HI/lo system, it is in your interest to split 10s when....
10s vs 6 true count +5 or higher
10s vs 5 true count +5 or higher
10s vs 4 true count +7 or higher
10s vs 3 true count +9 or higher
10s vs 2 true count +12 or higher
Logically if there is a new rule that gives an additional advantage to splitting 10's, you should split on a lower count. I don't know how much lower. Obviously not all the time. My WAG would be take the numbers down by 1 or 2.
